Another Busy Year for the KBB NTG
As 2007 draws to a close, there is time to take a breath and review the last twelve months.
Throughout the year the NTG has been working closely with other organisations reviewing existing qualifications, standards and developing them to meet the training needs and consumer’s expectations of today’s KBB marketplace. With this in mind the portfolio of courses facilitated by the NTG has been condensed to meet the wishes of the industry with the courses focusing on apprenticeships, installation, building regulations, kitchen design and sales, all designed to assist with the continual development of personnel at all levels.
It has also been a priority to introduce the KBB industry to both school leavers and to people considering a change in career. The NTG has been working with partners putting together apprenticeship schemes that focus solely on kitchen installation with the apprentices following a comprehensive training program. An apprenticeship scheme is up and running and is proving to be very successful which is fantastic news. The NTG has also been working with South Nottingham College introducing their students to the KBB industry and being involved with the college in launching a pilot scheme for 14 to 16 year olds that covers art, design and creative studies, specialising in kitchen design.
There have been many other exciting accomplishments throughout 2007 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported both the NTG and the courses during the year. However, to continue to sustain the courses available our industry must keep on embracing the importance of training, upskilling and the education of staff and the best way to do this is by taking up the places on the courses.
